We would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to complete the following questionnaire. Your responses will be treated in strict confidence and will be of great help as we promote Greek wines in the USA and AUSTRALIA.
I will be in the region this August. I would like information on visiting wineries. Thank you.
You need good entry level wines with simple, easy-to-understand labels. Winery name, appellation and grape variety need to be prominent and cleanly presented.
More special wines should be marketed as such…elegant labeling with grand wine in the bottle.
You have a limited audience, as most consumers purchase wines for odd reasons…sometimes price, sometimes label, sometimes a numerical point score.
Xinomavro should be the new “cool” wine…it’s not just for Greek food. Identifying “taste-makers” in various markets would be a good idea.
Suggesting it to be paired with foods more familiar to Californians (I’m in San Francisco) would be ideal. Show it with Italian cuisine, French, Spanish, California Cuisine, etc.
But while it’s great to highlight Xinomavro, please keep in mind Greece has all sorts of wonderful wines which are poorly-marketed presently. So you can work to promote this one element of Greek wines, but your campaign to gain greater recognition would be stronger in conjunction with other wines from Greece.
You know, there’s a saying often heard about things that are “foreign” or confusing: “It’s Greek to Me!” This would possibly be a great marketing tool to promote Xinomavro and other wines from Greece.
I look forward to learning more about Xinomavro and other Greek wines…
